Burleske
means to play around
or to be playful
in German or French.
There are some parts that sound like idyllic countryside scenes, but overall, as the title suggests, the music is lively, cheerful, and playful.
Musically, it imitates the style of the Austrian Romantic composer A. Bruckner, and its format is an A-B-A scherzo (the trio section in B has an odd time signature of 12/16).
